UNEXPECTED PATHS INTO MARINE CONSERVATION

ADVICE FROM THE OCEAN

CONTRIBUTORS

Book contributors are extraordinary people working in the field of marine conservation. They are all unique in the paths and approaches they take to conservation. These contributors are drawing inspiration from unexpected places to create change, because the intersection of marine science and other disciplines is where innovation and inspiration begins.

PURPOSE

Marine conservation is so much more than just biology. As such, we want to expose some of the unexpected career paths into marine conservation by compiling peoples' unique experiences. Young people need a guide of ways to enter such an expansive field in untraditional ways. We hope to expose paths that may be surprising at times, and at others reveal the importance of multidisciplinary approaches.

CONTENT

This book is sprinkled with advice from the ocean, and those who fight for it. In this volume, you will find personal essays from people working in law, art, engineering, literature, medicine, robotics, and so many more fields. This diverse group of people will share their career paths into marine conservation. How did they get there? What challenges and opportunities did the find along the way? These are a few of the questions guiding their essays.
